‘We are well aware of the negative impact this is having on commuters, minibus-taxi operators, and the businesses and traders who are operating from these facilities. I want to assure all that we are working around the clock to resolve the matter. The Transport officials are working on this as a matter of urgency. If all goes as planned, the matter should be resolved by the end of April 2021,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Transport, Alderman Felicity Purchase.

As an interim measure, skeleton staff consisting of regular cleaning staff have been deployed to assist with the required cleaning services at these facilities. This interim measure, however, cannot maintain optimum cleaning levels at the various public transport interchanges at all times due to the sheer volume of commuters and feet passing through these facilities.

‘We apologise for the inconvenience and ask that commuters, operators, and traders please bear with us while we are sorting this out,’ said Alderman Purchase.
